Research opportunities in wildfire management from an Operations Management perspective, Production and Operations Management

Dr. Reza Zanjirani Farahini, Professor of Supply Chain Management at Paris School of Business, has published an article in Production and Operations Management (POM), titled “Research opportunities in wildfire management from an Operations Management perspective.” POM is an A-level journal listed in the UT Dallas journal rankings, a widely recognized benchmark for top-tier research in business schools.

The article provides a structured overview of wildfire management, positioning it as a critical yet still underexplored area within Operations Management. It introduces a macro-level framework organized around four key functions: risk assessment, fuel treatment, surveillance and detection, and suppression. The paper highlights how analytical and data-driven approaches can enhance decision-making across these domains.

By mapping existing research and identifying gaps, the study outlines promising avenues for future contributions, particularly in predictive and prescriptive analytics, while also offering valuable insights for practitioners facing increasingly complex wildfire challenges.

This publication further reinforces the School’s growing presence in leading international research outlets.

Managing political uncertainty: independent directors with political experience and corporate investment, Journal of Corporate Finance Research

Dr. Jiri Tresl, Professor of Finance at Paris School of Business, has co-authored a study published in the Journal of Corporate Finance Research (ABS4) titled “Managing political uncertainty: independent directors with political experience and corporate investment.”

The research shows that political instability; whether linked to government changes, geopolitical tensions, or regulatory shifts; tends to discourage corporate investment. However, firms with board members who have political or institutional experience appear better equipped to navigate such uncertainty, enabling them to sustain investment decisions.

This publication illustrates how academically grounded research can shed light on contemporary economic and geopolitical challenges, and inform our understanding of corporate decision-making under uncertainty

Is it a man’s wor(l)d?

The effect of linguistic gender-marking on female entrepreneurship: Micro-Level evidence, Journal of World Business

Dr. Francis Osei-Tutu, Assistant Professor of Finance at PSB, has co-authored an article published in the Journal of World Business (ABS4), entitled “Is it a man’s wor(l)d? The effect of linguistic gender-marking on female entrepreneurship: Micro-Level evidence.”

In this study, the authors explore how gender marking in language influences women’s attitudes toward entrepreneurship and their engagement in entrepreneurial activity. Drawing on a large-scale individual-level dataset, the findings reveal a positive association between stronger linguistic gender marking and women’s entry into entrepreneurship. This effect is largely driven by necessity-based motivations: in contexts where languages strongly encode gender, persistent labor market discrimination may steer women toward entrepreneurial careers.

The publication highlights the value of rigorous academic research in shedding light on key socio-economic dynamics and deepening our understanding of gender inequalities in the labor market.
